Course Overview

This comprehensive 16-hour program provides industry-standard 5-year armorer certification for personnel responsible for maintaining and servicing modern carbine rifle platforms. The course is designed for law enforcement agencies that have deployed or are in the process of issuing AR-pattern rifles to patrol officers, supervisors, and tactical units.

Course Content

The hands-on training covers all M16, AR15, M4, and AR308 type weapons systems and their variants. Topics include:

  • Weapon history and development
  • Cycles of operation
  • Complete disassembly and reassembly procedures
  • Nomenclature and component identification
  • Inspection protocols, stress analysis, and maintenance intervals
  • Parts replacement schedules
  • Accessories and upgrade options
  • Cleaning and maintenance techniques
  • Timing and suppressor considerations
  • Barrel replacement procedures
  • Headspace verification, firing pin protrusion, and gauging
  • Piston and direct gas impingement systems
  • Ballistic issues and troubleshooting
  • AR308 variants and specifications
  • Parts interchangeability
  • Semi-automatic, full-automatic, burst trigger systems, and conversion techniques

Instruction

The program is taught by FBI and NRA certified instructors. The primary instructor has been featured in SWAT Magazine and has published numerous articles in Guns & Ammo Magazine, Gun & Weapons for Law Enforcement Magazine, Shooting Times Magazine, and Precision Rifle Magazine.

Schedule and Materials

The course runs from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM each day with a one-hour lunch break. All necessary tools, manuals, and instructional materials are provided. Students are required to bring their own weapon systems to become familiar with their specific configuration and modifications, allowing for thorough cleaning, inspection, and any necessary repairs.
