Course Overview
This single-day armorer course is designed to provide comprehensive training on the 1911 series type handguns. Participants will engage in extensive hands-on instruction, gaining practical experience in custom fitting of components and performing detailed maintenance procedures. Students are encouraged to bring their own 1911 handguns to the class, allowing them to perform a thorough inspection and cleaning while addressing any necessary repairs or modifications to their specific weapons.
Course Content
The training program encompasses the following topics:
- Historical background of the 1911 weapon system
- Operational cycles of function
- Complete disassembly and reassembly procedures
- Recognition and correction of common problems and parts
- Custom fitting of components including beaver tails, extractors, hammers, and triggers
- Identification of group components
- Internal and external extractor function and installation
- Cleaning and routine maintenance protocols
- Inspection of barrels, frames, and slides
- Ballistic considerations and crown repair techniques
- Parts interchangeability and custom fitting applications
- Trigger and hammer removal, cleaning, and replacement
- Safety mechanism replacement
- Accessories and customization options
- Tool selection and usage
What's Included
All necessary tools, manuals, and instructional materials are provided by the course. Students must bring their own 1911 handgun to facilitate familiarity with their particular configuration and any existing modifications.
