Description:
This intensive two-day program is designed for law enforcement agencies and personnel who need to develop expertise in maintaining and servicing modern rifle platforms. As departments increasingly equip patrol officers, supervisors, and tactical units with carbine rifles, the demand for qualified armorers and range masters has grown significantly. This course addresses that need by providing comprehensive training in the maintenance, care, and repair of M16, AR15, M4, and AR308 weapon systems and their variants, including both semi-automatic and select-fire trigger configurations.
The curriculum follows manufacturer guidelines and is instructed by FBI and NRA certified trainers. The primary instructor, Greg Sullivan ("Sully"), brings extensive professional credentials, having been featured as a cover story in SWAT Magazine and published in numerous firearms publications including Guns & Ammo Magazine, Gun & Weapons for Law Enforcement Magazine, Shooting Times Magazine, and Precision Rifle Magazine.

- Piston and direct gas impingement systems

- Semi-automatic, fully automatic, and burst trigger systems and conversions
Practical Experience:
This is a highly hands-on course where students work directly with weapon systems throughout both days. Participants are required to bring their own firearms to become familiar with their specific configurations and modifications, allowing for thorough cleaning, inspection, and any necessary repairs or replacements. All necessary tools, manuals, and instructional materials are provided by the training provider.

Multiple sessions are offered throughout 2026 and 2027 at various law enforcement agencies across the United States, including locations in Wisconsin, North Dakota, Minnesota, Kansas, Iowa, Colorado, Missouri, Wyoming, Maryland, Ohio, Indiana, Pennsylvania, New York, Illinois, and South Dakota. All courses are restricted to law enforcement personnel only.
For those interested in hosting a course at their agency, Defensive Edge Training is available to arrange sessions with minimal requirements—only a suitable classroom is needed. Hosting agencies receive a minimum of two complimentary training positions.
