Course Overview

This specialized training program is designed for law enforcement snipers and marksmen who need to maintain, inspect, and service their precision rifle systems. Participants will develop comprehensive knowledge in the maintenance, care, and repair of bolt action sniper rifles from major manufacturers. The course is taught by FBI and NRA Certified Instructors and follows manufacturer guidelines.

Rifle Systems Covered

The course provides hands-on instruction for Remington 700, Savage 10/110, Winchester/FN 70 series, Tikka, Sako, and Ruger platforms. Officers may also bring alternative brands and models including Steyr, Bergara, Sig Sauer, CZ, and custom-built rifles for additional instruction and troubleshooting.

Course Content

This intensive one-day program covers the following topics:

  • Weapon history and function cycles
  • Complete action disassembly and reassembly procedures
  • Identification of common problems, parts, and nomenclature
  • Stock inspection including traditional, synthetic, and SOPMOD configurations
  • Pillar and bedding assessment
  • Barrel inspection and evaluation
  • Parts interchangeability and brand compatibility
  • Headspace measurement and verification
  • Firing pin protrusion evaluation
  • Trigger cleaning and replacement techniques
  • Chamber inspection procedures
  • Scope base mounting and installation
  • Scope ring truing and lapping to optimize rifle and optic performance
  • Proper action torquing procedures
  • Extraction and ejection evaluation
  • General cleaning and maintenance practices
  • Accessories and customization options

Course Requirements

This is a hands-on course designed exclusively for law enforcement personnel. All necessary tools, manuals, and equipment are provided. Students must bring their own weapon systems to become familiar with their specific configuration and modifications. This also provides time for thorough inspection, cleaning, and any necessary repairs or parts replacement.
