Police Traffic Laser/RADAR Instructor

This comprehensive course is designed to enhance participants' expertise in both RADAR and Laser speed measurement technologies while equipping them with the instructional capabilities needed to deliver training programs on these devices to fellow law enforcement professionals.

Participants will develop a thorough understanding of the underlying scientific principles governing these measurement devices and learn how to effectively incorporate them into a comprehensive speed enforcement strategy. The curriculum addresses critical operational topics including equipment testing and verification procedures, relevant case law, health and safety considerations, and other essential operational factors.

Through hands-on training sessions utilizing various modern equipment models, attendees will gain practical exposure to current technology available in the field. Interactive teaching exercises reinforce the critical importance of comprehensive equipment knowledge for operators.

Intended Audience

This training is appropriate for police RADAR operators, law enforcement supervisors, military police, and police criminal justice instructors.

Prerequisites

Florida officers must have served as a RADAR/Laser operator for a minimum of three years and must have successfully completed the FDLE instructor techniques courses prior to enrollment. Participants from other states are strongly encouraged to meet these same qualifications.

  • Your own Traffic Laser/RADAR unit
  • A laptop computer with the capability to accept a flash drive

Important Notes
