This comprehensive program targets law enforcement motorcycle officers and academy instructors who need to develop expertise in creating and delivering motorcycle training curricula within their organizations. Participants gain practical knowledge for strengthening existing departmental motorcycle programs while maintaining consistent high-quality rider standards.

The curriculum spans two weeks of intensive instruction totaling 80 hours. The first week emphasizes advanced riding skills, including refined motorcycle control techniques, precision maneuvers, and sound tactical decision-making abilities. Following this foundation, the second week concentrates on program development, focusing on structuring comprehensive departmental motorcycle training initiatives that ensure only fully qualified and properly trained officers participate in motorcycle assignments.

Throughout the course, participants engage in multiple evaluation components designed to assess readiness. These include a timed and scored obstacle course test, extended street rides through varied and demanding terrain, and tactical scenario exercises incorporating live fire drills and motorcycle-related problem situations. Participants also develop critical high-stress operational skills, such as alarm response management, tactical breathing methods, and mental visualization techniques essential for peak performance during real-world motorcycle operations.

Practical assignments require participants to design range configurations, develop training calendars, and construct complete departmental motorcycle training programs. Special emphasis is placed on effective instructor training methods, with each participant delivering a training unit that receives feedback from IPTM instructors. A signed liability waiver is required before engaging in practical exercises.

Course Requirements: This program is designed specifically for two-wheeled motorcycles with minimum engine displacement of 1000 cc. Attendees must bring their department-issued motorcycle (or IPTM-approved equivalent) in good working condition with pre-course maintenance completed, weather-appropriate riding gear, approved protective equipment (helmet, gloves, ankle-covering boots), on-duty weapon with proper holster and body armor, and ammunition (400 rounds total, with 100 frangible rounds if available).

Eligibility: This course is limited to active law enforcement personnel. Participants must be experienced, current motorcycle riders holding a valid motorcycle driver's license endorsement as required by their state, and must have successfully completed a certified police motorcycle rider course or equivalent taught by an approved police motorcycle instructor.

Note: Florida-based sworn law enforcement personnel may access FDOT grant-funded seats (federal and military law enforcement personnel in Florida are not eligible). This course does not qualify for certificate discounts.
