Montague Police Department
Now Hiring: Entry Level and Lateral Transfer Officers
Salary: $59,280 to $79,227 based on experience
$10,000 Sign On Bonus for academy trained and certified officers
The Montague Police Department, now led by new Chief Jason Haskins, formerly of Greenfield Police Department, is made up of 18 full-time officers, including a Lieutenant, Staff Sergeant, four Sergeants, three detectives, and two School Resource Officers—one partnered with comfort dog K-9 Mac—as well as patrol K-9 Larry.
The Town of Montague, located in Franklin County, is the second-largest town after Greenfield and is composed of five distinct villages: Turners Falls, the largest and most populated, along with Montague Center, Lake Pleasant, Montague City, and Millers Falls. The town borders the Connecticut River and the Town of Greenfield.
Minimum Requirements
- Be a United States citizen
- Be at least 21 years of age at the time of appointment
- Must have and maintain a valid Massachusetts driver’s license
- Must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent
- Must have or be able to obtain a Massachusetts License to Carry Firearms, “LTC"
Compensation and Benefits

Prior to appointment, candidates are subject to:
- Extensive background check
- Psychological examination
- Medical examination
- Interview process
- Required to pass the MPTC fitness test
- If not a POST certified lateral transfer, must be required to attend and pass 800 hour MPTC police academy
