THE TOWN OF COVENTRY ANNOUNCES APPLICATION PROCESS FOR
POLICE OFFICER

The Coventry Police Department announces that they will be accepting applications for entry level - Police Officer on an open enrollment basis. Recruits will be expected to attend the January 2027 Rhode Island Municipal Police Training Academy (RIMPTA).

Individuals who wish to be considered for employment by the Town of Coventry as a Police Officer, at the time of application, must possess a High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent; or be a graduate of a POST Certified Police or Law Enforcement Academy; be at least 18-years-old; be a US Citizen; have an active driver’s license; has not been convicted of a felony or otherwise admitted to having committed a felony; be of good moral character; and pass all testing requirements.

Testing will include a written test, physical fitness testing in accordance with the RIMPTA Physical Proficiency Standards, an oral interview, an intensive background investigation, and both psychological and medical exams (includes drug screening).

Applicants must possess valid Fit2Serve written and fitness testing certificates. The dates for the next written/physical exams are listed on their website. Additional testing fees are required upon registering at www.fit2serveri.com.
