Human Trafficking Curriculum Update

This mandatory seminar, presented by the Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection's Police Officer Standards and Training Council in partnership with the Department of Children and Families and the Department of Consumer Protection Gaming Division, focuses on updating instructors in human trafficking and related topics. The one-day Train-the-Trainer program is designed for current instructors holding endorsements in Areas 514 (Gambling and Organized Crime) and 514A (Human Trafficking and Prostitution), as well as any instructors seeking to add these endorsements to their credentials. Participation is mandatory for all currently endorsed instructors; those who do not attend by April 1, 2027, will have their endorsements removed and will no longer be authorized to offer POST credits in these subject areas. This training also serves as the sole pathway for new instructors to become certified in these endorsement areas.

The seminar will be held at the Connecticut Police Academy, located at 285 Preston Avenue, Meriden, Connecticut 06450, and will run from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Five session dates are available with corresponding registration deadlines: November 4, 2026 (deadline October 14, 2026); November 5, 2026 (deadline October 15, 2026); November 9, 2026 (deadline October 19, 2026); November 12, 2026 (deadline October 22, 2026); and November 17, 2026 (deadline October 27, 2026). Class size is capped at 25 participants. Interested attendees must register through the Acadis portal prior to the applicable closing date. There is no tuition cost for this course. Participants may purchase lunch at nearby dining establishments. The standard POST In-Service training uniform dress code, as specified in General Notice 23-02, will be in effect, and all training supervisors are required to ensure assigned personnel dress accordingly.

Upon successful completion, attendees will receive Review Training Credit in the following areas:

  • Area 514 Organized Crime/Gambling (3 hours)
  • Area 514A Human Trafficking (3 hours)
