C omprehensive Sexual Assault Investigations

The Connecticut Police Officer Standards and Training Council's Field Services Training Division, in partnership with the Division of Criminal Justice, is offering a four-day seminar focused on conducting thorough sexual assault investigations. The program runs from Monday, October 19, 2026, through Thursday, October 22, 2026, with sessions held daily from 8:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. at the Connecticut Police Academy in Meriden.

This training is intended for law enforcement personnel at all ranks, from patrol officers and detectives to supervisors managing sexual assault investigation units. The curriculum presents the investigative process in a logical, step-by-step manner designed for law enforcement professionals. Participants will explore comprehensive victim intake procedures, trauma-informed approaches to police interactions, suspect interviewing techniques, investigative fundamentals, evidence discovery and handling, search warrant procedures, forensic interview methods, report creation and record-keeping, confidential record management, charging decisions, and post-arrest procedures.

There is no tuition cost for this course. Attendees may purchase lunch at nearby restaurants. The POST In-Service training uniform dress code outlined in General Notice 23-02 will be enforced, and training supervisors are asked to ensure all assigned personnel comply with these requirements.

Successfully completing this course will award participants 26 hours of Review Training Credit across the areas listed above.
