This comprehensive training program is tailored for personnel new to internal affairs roles as well as seasoned professionals seeking to enhance their expertise. The course accommodates civilian investigators and agency leaders who wish to deepen their understanding of proper internal affairs investigation procedures. It provides a model procedures framework applicable to public safety agencies of all sizes.
Upon completing this 40-hour course, participants will possess the investigative skills and legal knowledge required to conduct internal affairs investigations effectively. This includes competency in handling cases involving criminal conduct and officer-involved shooting incidents.
The curriculum guides attendees methodically through conducting impartial, comprehensive administrative investigations with professional standards. Specialized instruction covers investigative approaches for allegations of sexual harassment and hostile work environments.
