This comprehensive 40-hour course is designed to equip law enforcement professionals with the essential knowledge and skills required to conduct thorough and professional investigations of homicide cases, whether serving as an initial responder or lead investigator.

The curriculum covers a wide range of homicide investigation methodologies, including examination of various homicide types and their corresponding investigative approaches. Participants will master systematic crime scene procedures spanning from initial arrival through comprehensive documentation and evidence preservation. The course emphasizes the integration of modern forensic technologies and scientific methods to enhance investigative outcomes.

Beyond crime scene analysis, the course addresses critical investigative components including criminal personality profiling, advanced interrogation strategies, and media relations management during death investigations.

Intended Audience

This course is designed for patrol officers, newly assigned and experienced detectives, investigations supervisors, crime scene technicians, medical examiner and coroner investigators, and military investigative personnel. The class is restricted to sworn law enforcement officers and personnel directly assigned to law enforcement agencies.
