Overview:
Protection Response Tactics is a comprehensive defensive training program designed for executive protection agents and personal protection specialists. The curriculum provides practical techniques and tactical approaches to manage threats at all risk levels. Rather than relying solely on confrontation, the PRT methodology emphasizes risk reduction through avoidance, evacuation, and when necessary, the appropriate application of physical force. The program recognizes that professional protectors must be prepared to respond to threats that possess modern combat training, including those with Mixed Martial Arts background.
Program Structure:
Module 1: Fundamentals introduces participants to core PRT principles including physical and verbal posturing, soft control techniques, and hidden force methods. Trainees learn to apply force appropriate to each situation while avoiding excessive responses. This module covers defensive mechanics against low-level through aggressive threats, emphasizing the importance of reading threat body language and understanding control techniques.
Module 2: Assault Tactics escalates training to address higher levels of aggression from single or multiple threats. Participants develop skills for fighting along vertical surfaces and master the around-the-world drill. The module introduces the predator mindset concept and the multi-tool principle for selecting effective techniques under stress. Advanced ground fighting and vehicle-based protective scenarios are also covered.
Module 3: Environmental Tactics focuses on managing threats in hallways, against walls, through doorways, and particularly in vehicle environments. Vehicle centric defensive tactics teach threat management in and around automobiles. Firearm awareness, disarming principles, and knife countermeasures are introduced at this level.
Module 4: Counter Grappling and Ground Fighting equips protectors with anti-grappling strategies to avoid extended ground engagement. Rather than extensive grappling study, this module emphasizes the primal environment principle and methods to quickly end ground encounters and return to protecting the principal.
Module 5: Firearm Disarming and Weapon Retention prepares specialists for weapon-based threats. Beyond teaching isolated techniques, this module teaches underlying principles for successfully responding to armed attackers across various situations.
Module 6: Standing Grappling and Advanced Weapon Tactics addresses standing grappling, pummeling, and control methods using the head and shoulders. The module emphasizes principle-based learning over basic technique repetition, preparing specialists for advanced weapon retention and disarmament scenarios.
