This comprehensive three-day course provides participants with intensive hands-on experience in the search, documentation, and recovery of both buried and surface-scattered human remains. Attendees will develop practical skills and theoretical knowledge essential for forensic professionals working in scenes involving human skeletal material.

• Human Osteology
• Postmortem Modification to Human Remains
• Recovery of Surface Scattered Skeletal Remains
• Recovery of Buried Human Remains

What to Bring

• Outdoor scene-appropriate attire including boots, long pants, and hats
• Comfortable clothing suitable for weather and fieldwork
• Sturdy closed-toed boots or shoes
• Sunscreen, hat, rain jacket, and insect repellent
• Water and snacks (lunch provided daily)

Equipment: Suncoast Forensics will provide all necessary equipment. Participants may optionally bring extra screens or pop-up tents and personal or agency tools (labeled appropriately).

Certifications

This training qualifies for IAI Crime Scene Certification/Recertification and ABMDI Continuing Education credit for 24 hours.

Attendance Requirements

Full attendance is required to receive a certificate of completion. Cancellations must be submitted to meredith@suncoastforensics.com at least 15 calendar days prior to the class start date. Cancellations made with less than 15 calendar days notice will incur a $200 fee. No-shows result in forfeiture of the course fee, except in cases of legitimate emergencies. Registered participants may arrange for agency substitutions by contacting Suncoast Forensics with updated student information.

Please note that Suncoast Forensics has not arranged a hotel block, so participants should contact accommodations directly for current rates.
