Course Overview
This three-day intensive workshop, developed through a partnership between Gap Science and J13 Forensics, provides forensic professionals and students with practical, hands-on training in detecting, enhancing, and investigating bloodstain evidence using modern tools and methodologies. Participants will develop the expertise and confidence needed to handle real-world casework effectively.
Course Content
Throughout this workshop, attendees will:
- Explore the fundamentals of blood as forensic evidence, including blood physiology and its investigative significance
- Develop proficiency with advanced detection techniques, including hands-on practice using the Foster+Freeman Crime-lite AUTO to locate and document bloodstains across multiple surfaces
- Conduct presumptive and confirmatory testing using Luminol, Bluestar, Phenolphthalein, and OBTI test kits
- Master bloodstain enhancement methods for latent prints, learning fixative selection and application techniques
- Utilize the Crime-lite AUTO to visualize enhanced prints with reagents including Amido Black, Leucocrystal Violet, Acid Yellow 7, Acid Violet 17, Hungarian Red, and Coomassie Blue
- Establish optimal processing sequences for bloody evidence to preserve and maximize all investigative leads
