Cellebrite Certified Operator (CCO) for Inseyets
This intermediate-level certification course is designed for digital forensic examiners and investigators seeking to master mobile device extraction and analysis techniques using Cellebrite's Inseyets platform. Spanning two days with 14 hours of total instruction, this course provides hands-on training in device unlocking, decryption, and data extraction workflows.
Course Content
The program covers essential extraction methodologies including logical, file system, and physical extraction approaches. Participants learn to navigate devices in various states, including Before First Unlock (BFU) and After First Unlock (AFU) scenarios, as well as advanced strategies for managing locked Android and iOS devices. The curriculum emphasizes pre-extraction decision-making processes to maximize recovered data while protecting evidence integrity. Additionally, students gain proficiency in creating UFDR reports that support both investigative needs and courtroom presentations.
Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion, participants will be able to understand how Inseyets and UFED technologies facilitate mobile extractions, identify and evaluate mobile and cellular data artifacts, apply encryption models to inform extraction decisions, and select appropriate extraction methods based on specific case requirements. Students will also develop skills in working with devices in different operational states, evaluating SIM and SD card data significance, assessing advanced extraction methods for locked devices, and generating clear, defensible forensic documentation.
Target Audience
This course is ideal for digital forensic examiners with foundational mobile experience, investigators looking to expand hands-on extraction capabilities, and teams preparing for advanced mobile forensic certifications. While no formal prerequisite is required, completion of Cellebrite Mobile Forensics Fundamentals (CMFF) is recommended.
Certification Details
Successful participants earn the Cellebrite Certified Operator for Inseyets (CCO Inseyets) credential by passing a knowledge assessment and completing a practical skills evaluation, with a minimum required score of 80%. This certification must be maintained through ongoing recertification via the CCO Recertification courseāa self-paced, 4-hour program that includes knowledge and practical skills components. Active certification remains valid for two years from the date of successful completion.
Course Structure and Delivery
The course is available in multiple delivery formats including in-person, virtual, and self-paced options. All in-person and virtual sessions include required self-paced preparatory modules that must be completed before class begins. Pre-work content is integrated into the final examination. Instruction is offered in English, Spanish (Spain), French, German, Portuguese (Brazil), and Japanese.
Tools and Techniques
The primary tools used throughout the course include Inseyets for advanced mobile extraction and decryption workflows, UFED for logical, file system, and physical extractions, and Physical Analyzer (PA) for data analysis, validation, and report generation. Students practice extracting data from both Android and iOS devices while applying best-practice workflows tailored to their specific case conditions.
Certification Pathway
This course serves as a prerequisite for the Cellebrite Certified Mobile Examiner (CCME) certification pathway. The bundled combination of CCO Inseyets and Cellebrite Certified Physical Analyst for Inseyets (CCPA Inseyets) is strongly recommended, though each course may be taken individually in limited circumstances.
