Course Overview

Law enforcement officers today encounter increasingly sophisticated criminal threats in a rapidly evolving operational landscape. The use of improvised explosive devices in both domestic and international criminal and terrorist activities has grown substantially in recent years. This comprehensive training program equips first responders with the essential skills to identify potential IED threats before they materialize, potentially preventing loss of life for both officers and civilians.

Course Focus

Research has shown that individuals preparing to deploy an IED often display recognizable behavioral and situational indicators that can be detected through proper training and observation. This course teaches law enforcement personnel how to leverage threat assessment and observation techniques to identify these warning signs. The training proves particularly valuable for first responders who frequently arrive at incident scenes before specialized explosive ordnance disposal teams or tactical units become available.

What You'll Learn

This Level 1 program is designed for all levels of law enforcement personnel and provides comprehensive instruction in threat recognition and IED awareness. Participants will develop a deeper understanding of threat assessment capabilities, enhance their observational acuity, and sharpen their tactical awareness. The course enables officers to recognize potential threats, take appropriate protective measures, and effectively stabilize an incident scene involving a suspected or actual improvised explosive device until specialized technical personnel arrive.
