Course Overview: The Linguistic Statement Analysis Technique (LSAT) is an empirically-based methodology for identifying deception, confirming truthfulness, and uncovering concealed information in both written and spoken communications. Rather than relying on traditional emotional assessment, LSAT employs scientific examination of word selection, grammatical structure, and statement content to determine truthfulness versus deception.

Core Methodology: LSAT operates on the principle that deceptive individuals unconsciously employ consistent linguistic patterns that differ markedly from truthful statements. Decades of scholarly research in linguistics, psychology, and deception detection have identified these distinctive linguistic indicators. By recognizing these signals, analysts can accurately pinpoint whether statements are truthful or deceptive and identify specific problematic portions. This approach proves equally effective for analyzing suspect, witness, and victim statements.

Key Learning Outcomes: Upon completion, participants will be able to understand concepts of truthfulness and deception and maximize interview effectiveness. Students will learn to identify and interpret linguistic signals, apply detailed analytical processes to extract maximum investigative information, and utilize the Validity Assessment process. The training covers development and application of the LSAT Investigative Questionnaire (IQ), which enables a single investigator to assess multiple suspects simultaneously and reduce suspect pools by up to 95%.

Course Format: This highly interactive, hands-on training includes a minimum of four practice statement analyses and examination of five real-case statements. Participants should bring a basic scientific calculator and are welcome to bring statements from their own cases for classroom analysis. All necessary materials, including workbooks, markers, pens, rulers, and handouts, are provided.
