Video Motion Analysis in Crash Investigation
This intensive five-day course is tailored for crash investigators and reconstructionists who seek to enhance their analytical capabilities through video-based evidence examination. Participants will acquire practical expertise in extracting and interpreting vehicle speed data from video recordings, making this training valuable for both law enforcement personnel and independent reconstruction professionals.
The curriculum builds upon foundational knowledge from IPTM's At-Scene and Advanced Crash Investigation programs. Students will progress through specialized topics including video metadata interpretation, scene documentation techniques, and video motion analysis software applications. The instructional approach combines theoretical learning with practical field exercises and real-world case studies, enabling participants to master Constant, Uniform, and Average Time and Speed calculations for determining vehicle velocities from video evidence. The course concludes with a comprehensive review and assessment to confirm mastery of the material.
