This advanced course presents contemporary approaches and practices in the field of crash reconstruction, enabling participants to deepen their understanding of collision analysis principles. The curriculum addresses both well-established topics and emerging areas of study. While designed as continuing education for practicing traffic crash reconstructionists, individuals preparing for ACTAR certification will find significant value in the content.
The course examines mathematical formulas and models utilized to analyze crash data and determine collision mechanics. Key focus areas include skid analysis, rotational motion evaluation, critical speed yaw analysis, and friction assessment. Participants will study concepts such as time-distance relationships, circular motion dynamics, impacts with fixed objects, and the principle of conservation of linear momentum, among other related subjects.
Throughout the program, participants engage in classroom exercises and complete a substantial interdisciplinary capstone project designed to reinforce and integrate the instructional material.

Intended Audience
This course serves law enforcement officers, independent traffic crash investigators, insurance claims professionals, engineers, legal professionals, safety specialists, military investigators, visual effects professionals, and ACTAR candidates.
Florida Students: Grant-funded enrollment opportunities are provided to Florida certified law enforcement personnel. Federal and military law enforcement officers stationed in Florida are not eligible.
Course Details
Duration: 40 hours
Prerequisites: Successful completion of IPTM's Traffic Crash Reconstruction course or equivalent coursework is required. Those without a solid mathematics and physics foundation are encouraged to complete IPTM's 16-hour Re-Introduction to Math and Physics (Online) course prior to enrollment.
ACTAR Credit: This course qualifies for 40 ACTAR continuing education units.
