Homicide Investigation

This comprehensive course is designed for both initial responders and lead investigators who need to develop the knowledge and practical skills required to conduct thorough and professional investigations of homicide cases.

The curriculum covers various homicide types and the investigative approaches most appropriate for each scenario. Participants will learn a systematic methodology for managing crime scenes, including initial assessment, proper documentation procedures, and evidence handling protocols. The course also explores how contemporary forensic science and investigative technology can enhance the investigation process.

In addition to crime scene investigation, the training addresses criminal personality profiling, interrogation methodology, and appropriate strategies for managing media interaction during death investigations.

Target Audience

This course is appropriate for patrol officers, newly assigned detectives, experienced homicide investigators, investigations supervisors, crime scene technicians, medical examiner and coroner investigators, and military investigative personnel. The class is restricted to sworn law enforcement officers and personnel directly assigned to law enforcement agencies.
