This comprehensive 40-hour course is designed to demystify energy-based analysis in traffic crash reconstruction and empower professionals to confidently apply these methods in their investigative work. Participants will progress from foundational concepts through advanced techniques, gaining practical understanding of how energy principles underpin crash analysis.

Through classroom instruction and hands-on outdoor projects, attendees will learn to examine and measure damaged vehicles, calculate damage-related energy values, and determine velocities using multiple analytical approaches.

Audience

This course serves law enforcement officers, private investigators specializing in traffic crashes, claims adjusters, engineers, attorneys, safety professionals, and military investigative personnel. Florida sworn law enforcement officers may be eligible for grant-funded seats through FDOT, though federal and military law enforcement personnel in Florida are not eligible for this funding.

Prerequisites and Preparation

Completion of IPTM's Traffic Crash Reconstruction course or equivalent is required. Participants with limited mathematics and physics backgrounds are strongly encouraged to complete IPTM's 16-hour Re-Introduction to Math and Physics (Online) course beforehand.

Required Items: Scientific calculator and work clothes appropriate for outdoor activities, including adverse weather conditions.

Recommended Items: Camera and flash drive (2GB minimum capacity).

Professional Certification

This course qualifies for 40 ACTAR Continuing Education Units (CEUs).
