Course Structure and Content:

Module 1: A Case Study - Instructor Steve Johnson guides participants through an actual case involving video recordings from an investigation he personally conducted. The module details how an interview and interrogation process led to the discovery of a missing 17-year-old girl. Despite initial belief that the victim was deceased, investigators ultimately located her alive hidden in a wooded area after obtaining a confession from a 26-year-old teacher.

Module 2: Detecting Deception - Participants learn to identify deceptive behavior by studying how individuals often blend truth with falsehoods. This module covers interview and interrogation location selection, statement analysis techniques, and the interpretation of verbal and physical indicators of dishonesty.

Module 3: Understanding Human Behavior and Body Language - This module develops critical competencies for successful interviews and interrogations by examining how to assess the reliability of information obtained and how to recognize and interpret non-verbal communication, including paralinguistics and behavioral patterns.
