Course Overview
This advanced offering represents the third course in a comprehensive three-course sequence. It builds directly on IPTM's Advanced Traffic Crash Investigation course and provides participants with an in-depth exploration of vehicle dynamics principles. Students engage in rigorous study of time and distance calculations, two-dimensional momentum analysis, and methodologies for computing impact speed through momentum equations.

- Derivation and historical basis of commonly utilized speed calculation formulas
- Determining vehicle speed at moment of impact by applying conservation of linear momentum
- Analyzing vehicle behavior during collisions using Newton's three laws of motion
- Examination of commercial vehicle and motorcycle dynamics in collision scenarios
- Methods for establishing direction of travel, initial contact points, and vehicle positioning on the roadway
Course Structure and Requirements
The program spans 80 hours of instruction and emphasizes hands-on learning through extensive project work. Participants will diagram, analyze, and perform vector sum analysis on multiple crash scenarios, providing practical experience in reconstruction techniques.

Prerequisites
Due to the technical complexity of the subject matter, successful completion of IPTM's Advanced Traffic Crash Investigation course or equivalent is required. Students without a strong foundation in mathematics and physics are strongly encouraged to complete IPTM's 16-hour Re-Introduction to Math and Physics (Online) course prior to enrollment.

Important Notes
Florida law enforcement officers should be aware that this course does not satisfy Salary Incentive Credit requirements for the FDLE course "Traffic Accident Reconstruction." Individuals holding ACTAR accreditation may retake this course for continuing education units once every five years following their initial five-year accreditation period for skill enhancement purposes. This course is not eligible for certificate discounts.
