Pedestrian/Bicycle Crash Investigation - Level I

Pedestrian and bicycle traffic collisions represent a significant cause of injuries in metropolitan environments. Because these incidents involve distinct dynamics, investigators must employ specialized methodologies to properly examine and reconstruct what occurred.

This comprehensive training program explores the distinctive factors that characterize pedestrian and bicycle traffic collisions. Participants will develop proficiency in recognizing and analyzing evidence—from reaction time considerations to victim injury patterns to surrounding environmental conditions—and learn to correlate findings with the sequence of events that led to the collision.

Ideal Participants

This course serves law enforcement officers, private sector traffic crash investigators, claims adjusters, safety engineers, legal professionals, safety officers, military investigative personnel, and visualization specialists. Florida sworn law enforcement personnel may be eligible for FDOT grant-funded training seats; however, federal and military law enforcement stationed in Florida are not eligible for this funding.

Course Details

Duration: 40 hours

Prerequisites: Completion of IPTM's Advanced Traffic Crash Investigation course or equivalent training is required.

Professional Credit: Participants may earn 40 ACTAR Continuing Education Units upon successful completion.
