Pedestrian/Bicycle Crash Investigation - Level I

This specialized course examines the investigation and reconstruction of pedestrian and bicycle traffic accidents, which represent some of the most common injury-producing crashes in metropolitan settings. The training provides participants with advanced techniques for analyzing the distinctive characteristics of these incidents.

Throughout the program, attendees will explore the biomechanics of pedestrian and bicycle collisions, examining factors ranging from human reaction capabilities to physical injuries sustained by victims to surrounding environmental influences. Participants will develop skills in recognizing, evaluating, and analyzing evidence while establishing connections to the overall sequence of events in a collision.

Target Audience

This course is designed for law enforcement and independent traffic crash investigators, insurance claims specialists, professional engineers, legal professionals, occupational safety personnel, military investigation specialists, animation professionals, and graphic design specialists.

Note for Florida Participants: FDOT-supported instructional positions are made available specifically for Florida law enforcement officers with sworn status. Federal and military law enforcement personnel working in Florida are not eligible for these grant-funded seats.

Program Details

Duration: 40 hours

Prerequisites: Completion of IPTM's Advanced Traffic Crash Investigation course or an equivalent program is required for enrollment.

Required Materials: Participants must bring a scientific calculator.

Professional Credits: This course qualifies participants to earn 40 ACTAR Continuing Education Units.
