Mobile Device Investigations

This comprehensive 24-hour training program equips criminal justice professionals with the knowledge and skills necessary to conduct thorough cell phone investigations across various case types. Participants will master current strategies and techniques for extracting, analyzing, and presenting cellular evidence in criminal investigations.

Course Overview

Throughout this three-day course, attendees will explore practical applications for working with major cellular network providers, preparing legally sound technology-focused search warrants, interpreting cellular provider call data records, linking data to investigative objectives, and developing effective case reporting and presentation strategies.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion, participants will be able to:

• Identify and implement methods for gathering evidence from cellular network providers
• Develop and execute cellular device search warrants within investigative operations
• Analyze and interpret cellular network data and call detail records
• Access data from various types of cellular devices and platforms
• Create investigation strategies utilizing cellular evidence and reports
• Properly document, archive, and present cellular evidence for court proceedings

Eligibility

This training is restricted to law enforcement professionals, prosecution personnel, and related court system officials only.

The registration fee covers 24 hours of comprehensive instruction, program materials, and instructional costs. Participants are responsible for arranging and paying for meals, travel, and lodging. Andrew Vallee, Senior Special Agent, Tennessee Bureau of Investigation – Cellular Analysis Survey Team, Nashville, TN

Senior Special Agent Vallee is a sworn law enforcement officer specializing in electronic surveillance, cellular network engineering data, radio frequency surveys, and communications data analysis. With law enforcement experience since 2000 and certified instructor credentials since 2004, he brings extensive expertise to this training. He has provided expert witness testimony at local, state, and federal judicial proceedings throughout the nation and has been instructing mobile device investigation courses with the National Criminal Justice Training Center since 2012. Senior Special Agent Vallee also serves as the lead instructor and coordinator for the AMBER Alert Technology Investigations program.
