This advanced course offers participants an opportunity to master modern crash reconstruction theories and methodologies while deepening their understanding of collision analysis principles. The program covers specialized topics that build upon foundational knowledge, making it suitable for both experienced traffic crash reconstructionists seeking continuing education and ACTAR certification candidates.
Course Content
Participants will examine the mathematical equations essential to interpreting collision events using crash data. The curriculum emphasizes critical areas including skid characteristics, spin analysis, critical speed yaw calculations, and friction analysis. Key concepts covered include time-distance analysis, uniform circular motion, pole impacts, and conservation of linear momentum.
The course integrates several practical learning components. Participants will apply geometric and trigonometric principles alongside relevant mathematical concepts. The program explores dynamics, kinematics, and Newton's Laws expressed as vector equations. Additional topics include drag and acceleration factor testing, the distinctions between critical speed yaw and spin analysis, projectile motion analysis, airborne speed calculations, and rollover crash reconstruction fundamentals.
Students will complete multiple in-class projects culminating in a comprehensive, multi-disciplinary project that reinforces course material and develops practical skills.

Intended Audience
This course is designed for law enforcement officers, private traffic crash investigators, claims adjusters, engineers, attorneys, safety officers, military investigative personnel, animators, graphic designers, and ACTAR candidates. Florida sworn law enforcement personnel may access grant-funded seats through FDOT (note: federal and military law enforcement in Florida are not eligible for this program).
Prerequisites
Participants must have successfully completed IPTM's Traffic Crash Reconstruction course or an equivalent program. Those without a strong mathematics and physics background are strongly encouraged to complete IPTM's 16-hour Re-Introduction to Math and Physics (Online) course prior to enrollment.
Certification Credits
This course is recognized for 40 ACTAR continuing education units.
