Overview:

This comprehensive training program has been recognized by the Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training for 20 hours of mandatory continuing education credit. The course spans 2.5 days, with the first two days running from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM local time and the final day from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM local time.

Participants will gain in-depth knowledge of the advanced concealment techniques used by smugglers and drug traffickers to hide contraband, weapons, and currency within land vehicles. The instruction combines practical techniques with current legal frameworks and case law.

Course Objectives:

Upon completion, students will be equipped to:

  • Recognize current patterns and trends utilized by contraband smuggling operations
  • Understand the expansion of Mexican Cartel activities and their nationwide impact
  • Differentiate between lawful traffic stops and various law enforcement encounters, including consensual interactions
  • Execute safe traffic stops and transition them into criminal interdiction arrests
  • Deploy conversational techniques and concealed interview strategies during encounters
  • Request consent in compliance with legal standards
  • Apply proper K-9 deployment methods and understand relevant case law
  • Conduct comprehensive and lawful vehicle searches
  • Identify indicators of criminal activity
  • Apply search and seizure laws including search incident to arrest, probable cause, and consent-based searches
  • Recognize sophisticated contraband compartments and hidden storage locations
  • Properly collect cellular devices and evidentiary materials
  • Follow appropriate procedures once contraband is discovered
  • Identify connections between drug trafficking and terrorist networks
  • Execute lawful asset forfeiture and currency seizure procedures
  • Enhance officer safety awareness throughout interdiction operations

Training Materials and Resources:

Students will have access to real-world in-car camera footage documenting actual criminal interdiction arrests and concealment discoveries. The course includes hundreds of current photographs and slides from real cases, up-to-date legal precedents, and a 150-plus page illustrated manual detailing various hiding methods and contraband examples. Each participant receives a course outline manual suitable for courtroom reference and future professional development.

Specialized Drug Education:

The course provides extensive coverage of emerging and established illegal substances, including Tranq, Fentanyl, 2CI, 2CE, GHB, Khat, PCP, Flakka, Molly, and liquid methamphetamine. Instruction includes identification methods, safe handling procedures, and appropriate post-discovery protocols for various drug types.

Legal and Ethical Foundation:

All techniques and procedures emphasized throughout the training are presented with attention to legal compliance, ethical standards, and proper law enforcement practices.
