About the Department:

The Shaler Township Police Department, commanded by Police Chief Sean Frank, is community and service oriented. Our Department is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life of our residents and guests by providing the very best in law enforcement services.

The mission of the Police Department is to provide leadership, promote individual responsibility, and maintain peace and order through high quality police services, that are responsive to the needs of the community. We are committed to improving the community’s quality of life through crime control, public safety, and by developing partnerships to prevent, reduce, or eliminate neighborhood problems. We strive to provide police services that are fair, professional, and respectful of the dignity of all individuals.

Our Police Department is staffed twenty-four hours a day by a staff of twenty-six sworn officers including the Chief, Deputy Chief, two Lieutenants, three Sergeants, two Detectives, one School Resource Officer, and sixteen Patrolmen. The Chief is assisted by two part-time civilian Records Clerks.

Divisional Responsibilities

Within the department officers serve in many capacities.
• The Patrol Division is the largest and more often has the first contact with the residents.
• The Detective Division is responsible for follow up on complaints and investigations.
• The Traffic Division has two motorcycle officers who in addition to traffic enforcement provide escort and traffic control during parades or dignitary protection.
• The Juvenile / Crime Prevention section is a compilation of several different officers. We have a full-time School Resource Officer assigned to the Shaler Area School District. The officers who handle the Crime Prevention duties are additionally assigned to the Patrol Division.
