The Township of Springfield Police Department maintains order, preserves and protects the lives, peace, and property of the citizens of Springfield, and enforces the laws within the framework of the State of New Jersey and the United States Constitution, as well as local and County ordinances. Our team vigorously patrols the Municipality with a proactive approach to law enforcement, and investigates and prepares for prosecution the crimes that take place in the Township with the utmost professionalism. Investigations are performed with passion and without prejudice to one’s ethnicity, race, creed, gender, sexual orientation, marital status, handicap, or religious beliefs. The Township of Springfield is an NJSACOP Accredited Agency.

About Us

The Township of Springfield is a residential community located in Union County, New Jersey with a population of approximately 15,000. The township covers an area of 5.15 square miles, populated with 2,783 residents per square mile. The community is comprised of a combination of single family residences, town houses, apartments, and Senior Citizens’ Apartment complexes; and includes public and private schools, several business corridors, a number of houses of worship for several religious groups, and a world-class golf club. Springfield is located on the northern edge of Union County, NJ, bordering Union Township, Millburn, Summit, and Mountainside. Major highways and roadways conveniently pass through Springfield, including Interstate 78, U.S. Route 22, Route 24, and Route 124, as well as County roads 509 and 577. Because of this, and Springfield’s close proximity to New York City and Newark International Airport, many commuters take advantage of the ample public transportation available here.
