Job Announcement:

Full Time Position (Forty [40] hours per week)
Under general supervision, the Records Clerk performs a variety records management duties. This
position requires independent judgment and strict adherence to organizational procedures, as well as
compliance with local, state, and federal laws. Responsibilities include processing and maintaining
police records, assisting with reports.
General responsibilities and duties include but are not limited to:
Process and maintain records related to accidents, incidents, arrests, investigations, infractions,
warrants, and evidence transmittals
Assist with preparation of court documents and reports
Provide reports, photographs, motor vehicle, and criminal history information in accordance with
applicable laws
Process pistol permit applications in compliance with Connecticut statutes; attend hearings if
required
Maintain records storage systems and perform quality control checks
Ensure accurate and timely submission of reports to state, federal, and other agencies
Maintain certifications in COLLECT and NCIC (if required)
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
Ability to interact professionally with the public, staff, and external agencies
Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Knowledge of office equipment and basic bookkeeping practices
Strong data entry and organizational skills
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
Preferred Qualifications:
College coursework or degree in business, criminal justice, or related field
At least one (1) year of experience in records management
Knowledge of records retention laws, UCR/NIBRS reporting, HIPAA regulations, and
Connecticut pistol permit processes
Experience in a professional office or law enforcement environment
