About the Sayreville Police Auxiliary

Sayreville Police Auxiliary

The Sayreville Auxiliary Police is a volunteer organization that falls under the direction of the Sayreville Police Department and the Sayreville Office of Emergency Management. We have our own ranking structure which includes: Patrol Officer, Sergeant, Lieutenant, Captain, Deputy Chief and Chief.

Basic Functions
An Auxiliary Police Officer performs general law enforcement functions, which includes street patrol, conducting preliminary police investigations, report writing, traffic control, issuance of citations, and other basic law enforcement functions.
They are utilized at special events such as parades, street fairs, and security for community events.
Auxiliary Officers are required to work during maximum deployment assignments such as major disasters and major community events.  Auxiliary Officers will receive an additional two to four hours, per month, of training each month on various topics.
