The Mendon Police Department is accepting applications for an anticipated full time Police Officer vacancy. We welcome experienced officers, academy graduates, and candidates currently enrolled in an eligible full time police academy.

In Mendon, officers respond to emergencies, investigate criminal activity, address traffic safety, solve community problems, and assist people during the moments when good police work matters most. You will gain broad experience and have the opportunity to take on responsibilities that can be difficult to reach in a larger agency.

Compensation That Recognizes What You Bring
Minimum starting pay is $64,232 annually, or $1,235.24 per week.
Qualified candidates may be eligible to start at up to $97,302 annually, or $1,871.20 per week, based on training, prior law enforcement experience, shift assignment and education.
With scheduled salary increases, a fully qualified officer with a master’s degree may earn up to $112,710 annually, or $2,167.50 per week, by July 2028.
These amounts exclude applicable stipends and other opportunities for additional compensation.

What the Job Demands

Police Officers protect life and property, enforce state and local laws, conduct preventive patrols, investigate criminal activity, apprehend offenders, manage traffic safety, assist individuals in danger, and respond to emergencies.
Officers must exercise sound judgment, communicate effectively, prepare accurate reports, work with other public safety agencies, and uphold the professional standards of the Mendon Police Department.
Who We Are Looking For
Applications are encouraged from lateral transfer officers, certified academy graduates, and individuals currently enrolled in an eligible full time academy program. We are looking for candidates with character, sound judgment, personal accountability, initiative, and a genuine interest in serving the community.
Minimum Qualifications
- Be at least 21 years old
- Be a non smoker
- Hold a valid driver’s license
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent
- Have graduated from or be currently enrolled in a certified MCJTC or MPTC full time academy program
- Successfully complete physical and psychological examinations
- Successfully complete an extensive background investigation
