Job Announcement

Under direction of the Support Services Manager, employee performs dispatch duties including but not limited to the following:

Determine appropriate personnel and resources to dispatch to incidents. 

Summarize information for broadcasting.

Communicate with field units; verbally and in written form (broadcasting, receiving, and exchanging information).

Contacts and responds to Officers in the field and provides data or information requested; query, analyze and disseminate criminal justice information via TLETS/NLETS.

Types, files, and maintains dispatch logs, records, notices, complaints, protective orders, bond conditions, and correspondence in an accurate and timely manner. 

Receive emergency and non-emergency calls for information and assistance via telephone, radio, and written teletype.

Direct calls to a source of assistance.

Maintain constant status information on all police and fire units via computer terminal.

Operate CAD RMS, telephones, radios, audio recorders, 9-1-1 PSAP equipment, and other technical equipment.

Have access to highly sensitive, confidential information.

Work according to 24-hour scheduling with work hours subject to change according to demand. 

Must be willing to work any shift, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as necessary.

On-call Calendar is utilized and assigned as needed.

Must complete all required TCOLE courses for Basic Telecommunicator, pass the TCOLE Telecommunications Test, and be awarded a TCOLE Telecommunicator License before 1st anniversary.

Job duties include multiple simultaneous tasks that must be performed on demand.

High liability and high stress factors are common.

Restricted ability to leave workstation.

Performs other duties as required or assigned.
