Seasonal Communication Operators are temporary employees whom supplement the year round emergency communication staff in its mission to the community. This assignment gives qualified and interested persons the chance to experience first-hand the duties and responsibilities of a public safety emergency communication operator. The duties include receiving telephone requests for public safety service, monitoring, maintaining and managing an assigned public safety operations radio channel and facilitating communications between public safety personnel, other public safety agencies, other city departments and the residents and visitors of the community.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma
18 years of age at the time of training completion
Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record
The ability to speak clearly and distinctly
United States Citizen
Must be able to attend a one week training session held in May and must be available to work until August 15th of the summer season.

Seasonal Pay Rate

Seasonal Communication Operator: $17.91 per hour

Candidates must successfully complete a written examination, a structured interview, and a thorough background investigation.
