ABOUT CMPD:
The Cumberland Metropolitan Police Department (CMPD) is responsible for public safety within the Town of Cumberland, Indiana. The Town of Cumberland is situated with both Marion and Hancock Counties and serves approximately 10,000+ residents with many more visitors per day. CMPD is made up of 20+ men and women who proudly serve this community and continue to strive towards being a top professional and transparent police department.
DIVISIONS
CMPD utilize three main divisions within the Police Department who serve for the Chief of Police: the Administrations Division, the Criminal Investigations Division, and the Operations Division.
The Administrations Division is made up of the Captain of Operations who oversees Patrol and other projects, as well as the Captain of Investigations who oversees Detectives and other projects.
The Criminal Investigations Division (CID) is responsible for investigating all criminal matters within the Town of Cumberland; theft and vandalism to homicides.
The Operations Division is responsible for the day to day uniformed patrol of the Town of Cumberland and operates 24 hours a day, every day of the year.
Specialty Units
CMPD utilizes Bike Patrol, Drones, K9s, Instructors, Field Training Officers, Evidence Technicians, Gun Liaisons, and other specialties that are often times done by members of our Operations Division.

Qualifications for Application:
- Must be a United States of America Citizen
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Must be no more than 40 years of age at time of hiring (per INPRS PERF Law Requirements)
- Must possess a high school diploma or GED
- Must possess a valid driver's license
- Must NOT have any Felony Convictions, Drug Related Convictions, OVWI Convictions, or Domestic Violence related Convictions
- Must NOT have been dishonorably discharged from Military Service
