Special Law Enforcement Officer Class III (SLEO III) – School Resource Officer
The Galloway Township Police Department is currently accepting applications for the position of Special Law Enforcement Officer Class III (SLEO III) – School Resource Officer.

This position provides a unique opportunity for retired law enforcement officers to continue serving the community by helping ensure the safety and security of students, faculty, staff, and visitors within the Galloway Township Public School District. School Resource Officers are responsible for fostering positive relationships with students and school personnel while maintaining a safe learning environment.

Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must meet all eligibility requirements established by New Jersey law and the New Jersey Police Training Commission (PTC), including:

Must have retired from a qualified law enforcement agency within the past three (3) years. 

Must be a retired, duly qualified full-time law enforcement officer who previously served with a municipal, county, State, bi-state, or federal law enforcement agency.

Must be a resident of the State of New Jersey.

Must have retired in good standing. Applicants must provide a Letter of Good Standing from their former law enforcement agency indicating the date and type of retirement. A copy of this letter will be submitted to the New Jersey Police Training Commission.

Must be under 65 years of age at the time of appointment.

Must successfully complete a psychological examination.

Must successfully complete a medical examination and submit a completed PTC Form 8A (Medical Certification Form).

Must successfully pass a drug test in accordance with the New Jersey Attorney General's Law Enforcement Drug Testing Policy.

Must successfully complete a comprehensive background investigation.

Position Information
School Resource Officers are employees of the Galloway Township Police Department and are assigned to the Galloway Township Public School District. SROs work in accordance with the school district's academic calendar and are required to attend additional in-service training, professional development, and other mandatory training throughout the year.

This position is covered under the New Jersey Earned Sick Leave Law.

Hourly Rate: $35.29 per hour
