Minimum Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or possession of a G.E.D. certificate.
  • College level course work in police administration, criminal justice, or a related field.
  • Certification as a police officer by the Maryland State Police Training Commission.
  • One year's experience as a Police Officer.
  • Possession of a valid non-commercial Class C driver's license issued by the State

Job Description/General Duties:

This work involves responsibility for performing, under general supervision, duties in patrol, traffic, investigations, administration, and related support services. Duties include shift work, outdoor work, and exposure to potentially dangerous conditions. Work requires an understanding of law enforcement work and departmental rules and procedures and is performed under the general supervision of the Police Chief or Sergeant.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS

  • Thorough knowledge of public safety laws, regulations and ordinances for the State, County and CSCBD.
  • Knowledge of English language usage, grammar, and spelling. Ability to communicate effectively, in oral and written expression.
  • Ability to function effectively in stressful situations.
  • Ability to qualify on all assigned departmental weapons, both lethal and non-lethal.
