ABOUT OUR DEPARTMENT
With 35 officers, the Brigantine Police Department employs a dedicated group of men and women who work together to deliver the best possible policing services to all. The Brigantine Police Department will always be prepared to respond to all your needs, with professionalism, compassion and respect regardless of the situation.
PATROL
The Patrol Division is responsible for responding to all 911 calls, motor vehicle crashes, first aid calls, man-made and natural disasters, fires, reports of crimes and disorderly persons offenses, as well as incorporating a spirit of cooperation with both the business community and citizens alike. Officers receive special training in community policing philosophy, interview and interrogation, drug and gang identification and intervention methods. Officers bi-annually get trained in the use of firearms, domestic violence, pursuit policy, and use of force policy.
INVESTIGATIONS
The Brigantine Police Department’s Investigative Division operates at a full strength of four detectives. The detective bureau is responsible for following up on information reported to the patrol division. All information is processed and organized by a Detective who will be responsible for that case to its conclusion.
The Detective responds to crime scenes where the scene is protected, processed and photographed. The Detectives will collect evidence and prepare it for further analysis. Latent fingerprints, shoe and boot marks, as well as DNA Evidence for further analysis or court. On larger or more complex crime scenes, the Brigantine Detective Bureau works in conjunction with the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office as well as State and Federal Agencies
