The City of West Haven is focused and planning ahead in the event of a disaster. Natural or human-made disasters, including hurricanes, or different forms, such as terrorism, require strategic planning, building public awareness, and the development of hazardous mitigation and emergency response plans. These plans are complete and ready for use if required.
Preparing our first responders with the necessary training, education and new equipment, as well as the development of Community Emergency Response Teams to assist in events, including a public health emergency, has kept the city’s homeland security team busy for the past several years. Much has already been accomplished to assure the health and safety of our residents during a disaster and is a work constantly in progress. Preparing makes sense, and we stand ready with our first responders to ensure your well-being in this great city of ours.
